Urgent Help Needed

Recommended Posts

Dear Members! I wanted to format my drive to install fresh copy of Windows xp home edition(genuine). But after so many trial it failed. It loads the files necessary for installation but on the screen of eula agreement it stops. There are three options F8= I agree Esc= I don't agree Updown arrow to move to other page. Out of this F8 and updown not working. I cannot go beyond. If I press Esc the computer starts again.

I am really in urgent help. May I ask you all to help me.

I shall be thankful to you.

is it a USB keyboard you are using, and in that case, have you enabled USB-keyboard support in the BIOS? - or tried with and old PS/2 keyboard or converter

(USB to PS/2).

Are you sure the "F-lock" key is pressed, so the F-keys are enabled?

Thanks a lot mcb2001 for ur support.

I am using PS/2 keyboard. I don't know "F-lock" key. My keyboard is multimedia keyboard and I couldn't find "F-LOCK" anywhere. There is one scroll lock and one cap lock.

Will you please help further.

Thanks in advance.

You didn't make it clear whether or not you are actually clicking to agree. If you don't click to agree the installation will stop.

There are excellent guides on installing XP CLICK HERE. It would pay you to print the one that applies to you, and then see how you get on. Hope this helps. :D

well, to be honest, if your ESC key does work, but all other keys dont, then i would either try another keyboard, check that its connected properly, and finally check that there is support in the bios for a keyboard during boot (some bios's actually disables it during boot).

Otherwise, i would try with another windows cd, if you got one...
