-pops- Posted June 29, 2007 Report Share Posted June 29, 2007 If you are unable to get Windows to start, there is no way that a password could be recovered from it.The only way I can think of to get going again is to re-install Windows with a new password (if you need one at all). I understand that if I remove the battery from the motherboard and wait 30 seconds we can actually reset the password, but that seems a bit extrem. I was wondering if there is another way. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted June 30, 2007 Report Share Posted June 30, 2007 Are you talking about the Windows user password, or some kind of BIOS password?Windows user passwords will not be reset by removing the battery.If it's Windows user password, then you should try to login as Administrator and reset the user password. If it is the Administrator password that you lost, then there is no other way than to reinstall Windows. mcb2001 Posted June 30, 2007 Report Share Posted June 30, 2007 just a short note - its against the rules of windows forums to hack or tell how to hack in any way, so you wont get any other suggestions then the legitimate ones.And no, a removal of the laptop battery wont reset the BIOS password - it has to be the internal battery AND the laptop battery, since the internal battery (very small one) is there to keep the data in the ROM and keep the clock running.But know that if you remove the batteries you get a full reset of the BIOS, so if you setup anything in there, you will have to do that aswell.
