Drives mixed up?

Recommended Posts

I am a newb when it comes to computers and I really need help. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'm having an issue with my C and D drives. When I originally got this computer my C drive had about 180 gigs on it and my D drive had like 5 gigs. I had a problem with system restore and had to reinstall windows and now the C and D drive are mixed up. It says my D drive has the 180 gigs and my C drive has the 5. This is really messing up my computer. Please help.

its not mixed up, the C and D letters, are just a way for windows to identify which partion is which...

So when you reinstalled, on the old D drive, windows choose that this was the primary drive, and therefore named it C, leaving D for the old C drive...

It isn't a problem at all, and you can actually change the names to any other letter you feel like, but since its only looks, i would suggest you just get used to this setup :-)

You cannot change the drive letter on the drive containing the operating system without reinstalling.

Are we talking about two seperate drives or one drive with two partitions?.

Okay, true but the D drive is changable :-)

Not if it contains the operating system.
