amore125 Posted July 11, 2007 Report Share Posted July 11, 2007 hi, i'm new here and would appreciate some guidance. my older computer is a presario ez2600 and totally virus ridden. i try to reinstall the xp software (destructive) but when i restart and hit F 10 i get an error message file init krn.exe type and the type is 14...it clicks rapidly from somewhere in the box...the computer will turn on if i hit any key but will not allow me to get into the destructive mode. any ideas? Which means you need to alter the boot order in the bios so that the cdrom is the first boot device. When the cd boots you will be asked if you want to reformat the hard drive. After this you can then continue and install windows as a new installation. You will of course have to re-install all your software.Simon.
