internet connection

This is an old problem and I'm unable to resolve it.

I have

OS Name : Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Version : 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600

OS Manufacturer : Microsoft Corporation

System Manufacturer: Dell Computer Corporation

System Model : Inspiron 1150

System Type : X86-based PC

Mount Point :hdc2

Internet Connection : Broadband Ethernet static through Router

It was working fine till I tried to install Suse Linux in the linux partition when Windows was erased.

I reinstalled Windows from the Reinstallation CD supplied by the authorized vendor at the time of purchase by my son at USA

(I am based in India).

But Internet Explorer is not connecting. I checked Network Adapter and found

Installed : Yes

PNP Device ID : Not Available

IP Address : Not Available

IP Subnet : Not Available

Default Gateway: Not Available

I want to know how I can make these informations available to the computer. (I know how to do that in linux.)

Can you open the Device Manager, then check your Network Adapter if

1. it is showing correctly
   
2. has the correct driver installed
   
3. and is working correctly (no yellow excalmation mark or red x)
   

If all above is correct, then launching Internet Explorer for the first time should launch some kind of network connection wizard, where you specify all the missing details.
