There is nothing special to this setup: there is a login script that is run every time a user logs on to the domain, which simply maps about 10 different network drives.what happens is that is the user stays logged on over night, by morning some of the drives will have simply disappeared. The only(actually the fastest) solution is to manually run the login script again to remap the drives.Now this seems to only affect the shared folders on ONE of my two servers that host shared folders, but it is not an all-or-nothing deal. Some drives on server X will disappear and some will still be there. Also this does not seem to affect everybody. The people who are seeing this happen are all on XP, but I have many other XP installations who do not have any problems at all...I am dumbfounded...any help will be greatly appreciatedboth servers are w2k3 standard. the one that is messed up is R2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The external device(s) (in this case the USB stick) will "steal" drive letters even if they are already mapped and active drives in use. however this is not the case here. when external USB devices steal drive letters, they will do so from the top of the alphabet down, i.e in my case it is the F drive that gets stolen.And please believe me that it does happen randomly. My drives(drive letters) don't get stolen with external devices.
