Submerged
Hey, this should be alright, but I thought I would check. I'm reinstalling Windows XP on an old computer of mine, and do not have the original CD that came with it. However, I do have the cdkey that came with it. Is it alright to use a different CD of Windows to install it, as long as I use the genuine code that came with that computer? Thanks!-Alex
eddacker
TYPICALLY XP comes in two versions, Home key/disk doesn't install with Pro key/disk. As well there are different versions of the install codes. You should try to keep any valuable software disks safe and keep any install codes with their disks. Things happen, but usually unmatched disks/codes do not work or fail later when updating or doing the activate.
