Added to Domain, old local profile not being used

Hey all -

I am trying to figure out what I need to do in order to solve and issue I have. I recently set up a domain controller to migrate our rather open network to a more secure schema. This particular desktop had been used locally for about 3 months, so the software and settings are perfected to the users requirements. Now, I added the machine to the domain (domain user name is same as local) and it created a new blank profile it seems - no desktop shortcuts, program defaults, etc. How can I make it such that when the person logs into the computer (and onto the domain) their former profile is intact?

Thanks everyone.

* Log into the local account and find where profile to be migrated is located "echo %userprofile%"

* Log into computer as user you want to migrate profile to

* Log out

* Log in as an administrator

* Give new user rights to old profile folder (in Documents and Settings), make sure it applies recursively

* Launch regedit (regedit32 for windows 2k)

* Click HKEY_USERS and go to file > load hive, and browse to the NTUSER.DAT file in the old profile

* Give new user full access

* File > Unload Hive

* Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Miscrosoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

* Find the new users subkey

* Change the value of ProfileImagePath to the old domain profiles location

* Close regedit, logout, and log in as new user.
