seekermeister Posted September 4, 2007 Report Share Posted September 4, 2007 I have been Googling for a program or file that will let me reboot from the keyboard. Everything that I have found so far, either requires an additional mouse input, or appears to have the possibility of being spyware. I did place a reboot file from a program installation and creat a hotkey for it, but that only produced a dialog asking whether to reboot or not, and it didn't accept a keystroke from the enter key.I want something that would allow me to do a soft reboot when something crashes and the mouse becomes frozen...any suggestions? If you are on Windows XP Professional, and a domain user, then you can simply use Ctrl+Alt+DelUnfortunately I have never found a way to use this as a non-domain user. I was thinking that it would require me to use the mouse to select reboot, but I found that I can do it with an Alt+ keystroke combo. That is sufficient, but I still would like to find something that I can hotkey so that one keystroke is sufficient...just lazy I guess. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted September 4, 2007 Report Share Posted September 4, 2007 No, you don't need the mouse; you can use the → key to go to the 'Shut Down' key, then use ↑ or ↓ to select between Shutdown and Restart.You can also go through the Start menu (Ctrl+Esc) to initiate the Shutdown.I hope your "freeze" situation doesn't happen so often that you really need a one-key shortcut for the shutdown. Actually, it hasn't been too bad on MCE, but I had alot more problems with it on x64.The options given are enough, but I didn't understand the first one with the arrow key. I don't even find one, except the mouse keys. I assume that the up and down arrows are mouse keys, but Where is one that points to the right?
