Unfortunately, at the time I could not boot to CD to properly install XP cold to the new drive. As a result, the computer is dual-boot from my old Win2K drive, but XP resides on the new drive, but this drive is not bootable. I planned on fixing this before I installed too much stuff to the new drive, but never got around to it.I have now added another drive which is large enough to back up all of my data (its primary purpose is strictly data, and the previous WinXP drive will be strictly software. The old Win2K drive will be removed).Right now I am moving all of my data files off the XP drive onto the new Data drive. When I am done, I want to make the XP drive bootable so I can get rid of the old Win2K drive.My question is whether I can make the WinXP drive bootable without wiping out the existing software and XP itself in the process? Not only can I not afford the downtime to reload all of the software, but I fear running into problems with some of the programs not activating again. Means you cannot enter Windows XP? Then how could you install software on that system?Where is your boot.ini file, and what does it contain?
