Ad hoc configuration problems

The HOST PC has a cable LAN connection to the Motherboard I am attempting to use the Wireless LAN card in the HOST PC to broadcast a ad hoc signal to the CLIENT PC, which also has a wireless LAN card and no ether net connections.

I cannot setup the ad hoc network properly on my HOST and CLIENT computers properly. I have successfully done so in the past. I have used the directions available at the site below:, but now something is wrong with the HOST machine.

I follow the directions as shown on this site but when I get to:

in Step 3 on the HOST machine there is no option viewable "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" check box.

This option, I have noted, is on the CLIENT computer. If this option were on the HOST computer, I would not have any trouble.

I have tried removing the LAN cards from both systems via control panel and reinstalling the drivers. And using new SSID names.

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? I have not had a need for a wizard in the past, but perhaps a Network Wizard is needed to get the settings right.

Should I set these PCs on a MSHOME network first?

They should be in the same workgroup. It does not have to be MSHOME, you can name it whatever you would like, but MSHOME is the default.

The methods described in the article should work just fine. Make sure the receiving computer is set to an automatic address, and both are in the same workgroup. If this does not work, run the wizard. The steps are very easy to follow and if you have problems, let us know.

Well I ran the Adhoc procedures.... the CLIENT IP is reporting 192.0.1.168. I know 192... is a good thing for a client to have.

Then I ran the Network Wizard again and used the first option. The CLIENT still has the shared box. But the CLIENT still has the option viewable "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" check box.

I'd like to get these able to share network shared folders. I do not have permissions it says.

I had a protection software program installed and it disabled the CTRL-DELETE-BOX and who knows what else. I can get in in the Administrator account in F8, but still cant get it... is it in services that I re-enable this?
