DWSaul Posted October 4, 2007 Report Share Posted October 4, 2007 Okay, so, I bought a computer, and I didn't realize that I got a Celeron D in it. I use it for audio recording, blah blah blah, I bought a Intel Quad Core.So, I put in the new processor, BIOS recognizes it, and I can even enter the BIOS settings with the keyboard. However, as soon as Windows has the prompt for entering Safe Mode or starting normally, my keyboard is unresponsive and I have to wait the roughly 30 seconds. Then my computer will suddenly restart. The farthest its ever gone is the Windows loading screen, but then it freezes and I'll have to turn it off or restart manually.I've talked to a number of my more computer savvy friends, and they seem to be at a loss, I was at a loss at step one.Anyone got any ideas? ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted October 5, 2007 Report Share Posted October 5, 2007 Welcome to the Windows Forum.Not sure what's causing your problem, so let me just ask a few questions.Did Windows load correctly with the original processor?I assume that you have Windows XP?The new processor is not 64-bit?Can you try to run a Windows repair install? DWSaul Posted October 5, 2007 Author Report Share Posted October 5, 2007 Windows did load with the old processor, I do have Windows XP, as far as I know the chip is 64 bit?I suppose that leaves the repair install, guess I'll have to wait till I get home, if I can even find the disk.I appreciate the help.PS - I like the Doraeman.
