Custom Windows Key + Key Shortcuts

Normally when I create a shortcut and I want to assign a custom key command to it, I would have to have a combination of CTRL + ALT + KEY (letter,number,etc...) or CTRL + SHIFT + KEY or CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + KEY.

Anyways, the point is that this is annoying; having to press various keys at once while what I really want is just a simple WINDOWS KEY + (letter,number,etc...).

So I was wondering, is there a way to change the assigned key command for a shortcut in the windows registry? If custom shortcuts cannot be edited then I am quite sure that you can ADD more "Windows KEY + other key" commands, which is essentially the same thing.

Is this possible?
