Local Users and Groups - Snap-in Failed to Initialize

Recommended Posts

I'm running a Windows 2000 Advanced Server with SP2 and have recently noticed that I'm not able to access the Local Users and Groups via the Computer Management console.

After launching the Management Console, i get the following error:

Snap-in failed to initialize.

Name: Local Users and Groups

CLSID: {5d6179c8-17ec-11d1-9aa9-00c04fd8fe9}

I click the OK button and the console appears, but lacks the Local Users and Groups tree altogether.

The KB patch concerning the PATH values does not fix this problem.

Any help is much appreciated.
