Epson C46 printer and Vista

OK - am just about at the end of my tether with helping son trying to add his C46 printer.

Before I got him his PC in August I was given a link to Epson which showed it would be happy with his C46 (it is shown on the Stylus C series list as being "in Box" meaning the driver is on the operating system).

We (and he) have been trying and trying and are now perplexed there has been no success - then today I find another Epson link

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support...p;noteoid=86150

and if you look on the Stylus C series list it is not listed and it says at the end of the list box "If your product is not listed here, it is not supported by Windows Vista".

Aaarrrrrggghhh !! Epson don't seem to be agreeing with their own selves !!!

Happy with Vista - just pulling my hair out over Epson !!

Crumbs - how can they have 2 different versions of their truth on 2 of their own weblinks? :censored:

Think I will have a coffee and calm down a bit

Very interestingly

On http://esupport.epson-europe.com/ProductHo...wU003D&tc=6

See below

You can download the EPSON PIF Tool (3.2c) [EPSON PRINT Image Framer Tool] for a C46 running Vista !

Something is definitely scrambled here ?

Yes - I know about the PIF tool on the Vista download area !

Actually Boris - you had asked me in a different thread how I was getting on with my own elderly beast (C44UX and Vista) - the thread was in Hardware Related Issues and I answered it a couple of days ago - but I answered it on the Backup Forum - it seems to have disappeared from here! I was vaguely mentioning a workaround son found that MAY or MAY NOT work - am not holding my breath though - rather think we are stuffed!

Anyhow - the C44UX only has the PIF tool on the Vista site too!

Ooh these gremlins are getting to me

OK - I confess - I have succumbed and ordered a Canon printer (2 in fact - one for son and one for me) - it definitely has a Vista driver on the Canon website (and works with Win98 so can be used on my network too) - Pixma iP4300.

Please don't let someone come on and tell me it doesn't work with Vista - I couldn't take it :cray:
