Hi everyone

I made a file sharing in my Pc with non-simple sharing mode, therefore, it requests me to enter username and password for it, however, it did not ask me again when I went to the share folder again, what happened, if I changed the password? is it any possible way that I can set the windows request user to enter their username and password each time when logging.

Please help

Welcome to the Windows Forum.

My guess is that your userid / password was stored on the local computer, and is used again if you try to access a sharepoint. If the password was changed, access will be denied, and you will be prompted again to enter your password.

Thank you so much for your reply, I tried it, but it did not pop up the screen for me to enter the user id and password even I changed username and password.

Please teach me how to fix it. I am stuck :(

Thx

Try using CCleaner to clear your Temp (etc)

Then try again.

Also, what 'sharing folder' did you use? Did you use a program to encrypt the data?

Hi, I did not use any program to encrypt the data, I just use windows's function to share it, for example in c:\abc, I share this folder by right click and setting the sharing. I use in my network, I found some the PC did not have this issue, I assume, it may relate with the local computer. but I am not sure how to fix it up.

Thank you for your help

Are you saying that you were able to successfully access the shared folder, despite having changed the password on your sharepoint computer? If this is true, then something is seriously wrong.

Thank you for your response, let say I used username as "ABC" to access the share folder,in general, after the PC client restarts, it should able to let user to enter the username and password again. it seems like the PC remember the user name and password, I found it has some of the PC in our network has this issue.

what happened if the user has been changed, in this case, other user may not able to enter the user name, since the PC already remember the username and password of it

Ah it is the accessing computer that had the user changed, not the one with the shared folder?

yes, even same user with password changed, the user still can't enter the username and password

the share folder, I have already set two users, "ABC" and "CDE" are allowed to access the share folder. let say both users may have a chance that to access from the same pc, if it is the case, and pc did not ask them to re-enter the username and password evemn the PC was restarted, how to solve it.

Have you actually tried it - change the user name, then access the shared folder again? Since the target userid/password may be stored with the local user registry, it may actually get removed if the user changes.

If above test does not solve the problem, can you search your registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER) for the target user ID?

Hi, Pat.

Thank for your reply

for the registry that you mentioned, you mean we should find it the client PC right? I found it has many sub-sections of it. could you please specify the location?
