andsome Posted November 4, 2007 Report Share Posted November 4, 2007 I used to be a fan of this software, but when it started to give problems I replaced it with Comodo. Now, on a couple of occasions they have sent me an e mail with a free security scan. I have run the scan out of curiosity. The results are enough to make me wonder how my computer runs at all. Needless to say, the results page also offers me their security suite to purchase to overcome all of these imaginary problems. On line scans with Panda and Trend, coupled with my Nod 32 AV, SUPERAntiSpyware, and A Squared show a completely clean machine. I HATE this kind of selling, and it has put me off the company for good. If anyone else wants to run this software out of curiosity let me know, and I can forward the e mail. When I first posted it the name Comodo was filterd out and show as ******. They obviously don't like the truth. I have posted a similar thread on two other forums, and the response has been that other people are receiving these e mails, and getting the same results from their scans. This could scare new users into buying software that they would not have done otherwise. I am satisfied that this Z.A free scan can not possibly be finding problems that all the programs listed above have failed to find. I have also run Windows live one care safety scanner with clean results. I posted a similar thread on here earlier today and cannot now find it, and have come to the conclusion that it has been deleted by a moderator. I understand it in a way; it's a support forum, and constant flaming (by lots of visitors) is very detracting. Not all of the regular support volunteers are happy with the direction the company & products are going, and they usually redirect people with complaints to an online form where you can send comments to the sales division. Have you tried to unsubscribe from their newsletters? Do they honor unsubscribe requests?If not, then you can call it spamming, and report them.Actually, I will just go ahead and send them an unsubscribe request, as I have stopped using any of their products. I would have no objections to the e mails a such, it was the devious way of getting money out of unsuspecting people that annoyed me. I have 1 email addy that, in over 12months, has received 0 spam emails ! The rest have around 20-40 per day ! Prob all the sites I have signed up to in the past (and they have sold my details) ? I have only given the '0 spam addy' to one site to date - Just shows you :)I know they have to make money, but it's wrong to misinform you on your security to get your money ! I believe that all software should be FREE and people should be able to donate if they wish. That way we all get better software (less hacking etc) and the products evolve for the better of us all (not just because someone hacked last months version and they have to work around it this month).
