Paul Cary Posted November 6, 2007 Report Share Posted November 6, 2007 The volume control on my Windows XP computer has disappeared and the PC will not make any sounds. Volume control has disappeared from both the sys tray and the Accessories -> Entertainment group. When I go into the Sounds control panel and try to check "Place volume icon in the taskbar", it tells me it can't because the Volume Control has not been installed, and to use Add/Remove Programs to install it. But in Add/Remove programs, I can't find Volume Control in either Windows Components or Add New Programs. I don't have a Windows installation disk. Is there a way to download and install the Volume Control? The Calculator is definitely there (Accessories and Utilities | Accessories | Calculator).You write that you don't have a Windows XP CD-ROM; do you have a C:\i386 folder?
