Jason1
Hello all,I seem to be having trouble forwarding the ports on my router for utorrent. I've tried portforwarding.com but I still can't get the ports to forward.I'm using Zone alarm internet security suite. Any ideas on how to work around this?Regards Jason :)
ithonicfury
Are you sure you're forwarding the right ports (and the same port with both UDP and TCP)? uTorrent will randomly generate a port to use the first time its launched (and you can see which port it is in its settings), whereas portforward.com would probably list the standard bittorrent ports. Also it would help if your IP address is static, so that it wont change and mess up your port forward later down the road.As an alternative, if your router supports UPnP (universal plug and play) you could just enable that and then uTorrent should automatically talk to your router and set up the ports forwards automatically. Jason1
Thanks - I've just enabled my UPNP in my router settings - so will things like xbox live forward the ports automatically?Regards Jason :)
ithonicfury
Im not sure, it depends on the program to support UPnP. You might be able to find out if something supports UPnP by googling something like: xbox live upnp, and replace xbox live with whatever program or network service or what have you.
