Cannot download any more

Recommended Posts

I came home from university this weekend, turned on my laptop and it immediately connected to the wireless. However, when I went to download the latest divx software (16mb), the download bar zoomed across and claimed it had finished.

I checked the size of the downloaded file and it was only 131kb's. So I redownloaded, 141kb, 152kb, 137kb, 154kb.

Tried a couple of other website with various file sizes, and types (exe, zip, rar) and same thing with similar outcomes.

Then tried Youtube which did a similar thing. The buffer bar appeared, started getting bigger, then zoomed across the screen. when i played the video, it gets to the point where it zoomed, and claims to have finished the video.

Again, this happens on Stage6.com

Tried this on another laptop in the house, and it all works perfectly. My server, running Server 2003, came up with Connection timed out without even downloading 100kb, so think it is unrelated.

I have cleared all temporary files, restored all IE7 settings, tried it with Firefox, and done a system restore.

Look forward to hearing your suggestions, as they will be greatly appreciated

Turns out my server is doing the same, but the other Vista laptop in the house isn't. The only difference is the working laptop has 5/5 wireless signal, whereas the server and broken laptop have 3/5 but still at 54mbps.

Moved the laptop next to the router, and it stayed at 3/5.

I'm using a Netgear DG834g v2 with latest firmware
