Stealth Posted December 27, 2007 Report Share Posted December 27, 2007 Hello All,I'm having probleming accessing my windows XP machine from another machine.I'm trying to access My Win XP machine the following way:\\192.168.2.50\C$My Network Places - Entire Network - Microsoft Windows Network - then click on computer name.Both ways prompt me for user name and password, but when I provide this information I can't log in. For this you can look at the screenshots I attached to the message. If you choose "Guest" you can access your PC without login/password. Ashley Posted December 28, 2007 Report Share Posted December 28, 2007 Is your computer set up to allow access from other computers in the Network? You can let other computers in the network connect to yours by going to Control Panel, Administrator tools, Local Security Policy, Local Policies, User Rights Assignment. Ont the top there is an option to Access this Computer from a network, make sure that it is set to everyone.Also if the computer you are trying to access is asking for a username and password, have you actually set a password on the account, otherwise it won't work. I forgot that Windows XP by default is set to Guest only - Local user authenticate as Guest.Change to Classic - Local user authenicate as themselves and it works fine now..
