9GB drain from SP2... Help...

Recommended Posts

I recently installed Windows Service Pack 2... before the install, I had about 11GB free space... during the install, my computer froze and I had to manually re-start. When windows started again, I only had 4GB disc space. Then I successfully installed SP2, and when I checked my disc space again I only had 2GB. So somehow, I lost 9GB... I tried deleting all the SP2 uninstall files, and that only gave me back about 1GB... so, now I'm not sure what to do...

Help?

Welcome to the Windows Forum.

I hope you made a full backup before the SP2 install. Restore the backup, then clean your system from any malware and unnecessary data, then retry the SP2 install again. XP-SP2 installs can have unpredictable results on infected systems.
