martix Posted January 22, 2008 Report Share Posted January 22, 2008 A few days ago a program crashed on exit and I restarted manually. This messed the computer up. After fixing it I discovered I couldn't get into my other computer thru the network. And it couldn't get into this one.I want options besides reinstalling the whole Windows...I'm using the same settings I used a few days back when everything worked fine. START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL Double left click SYSTEM Left click the ADVANCED tab In the STARTUP AND RECOVERY section, left click the SETTINGS button. In the SYSTEM FAILURE section, unchceck AUTOMATICALLY RESTART. Left click OK Left click APPLY Left click OK Then you'll get a BSOD instead of a restart. I did a restore repair 3 time following chris guide, and it worked like a charm...But if you dont get a BSOD anymore, that wont be necessary, I suppose.About your network problem.Could you do a start-run-cmd-ipconfigYou will see the ip address of the computer. Try to ping it with the other pc.Post back if you need more instructions.Also, do you have a software firewall installed? (like zonealarm or comodo or...)How are the puters connected to each other? martix Posted January 23, 2008 Author Report Share Posted January 23, 2008 Huh...Ping is ok. :) Ipconfig gives some usual information plus 3 types of "Tunnel adapter's" which I have no idea what they are, but all of them say NetBios over TCP/IP is disabled. What are they and would enabling netbios fix stuff?I have a switch and my firewall is set up properly.Just to tell you - all of the settings are the same as they were a few days ago and they worked back then!
