registry file failure, cannot load the hive

I'm not sure if someone else had posted something like this before, but when I tried to start the computer, this is what is showed:

STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}

the registry cannot load the hive (file):

\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE

or its log or alternate.

It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

Beginning dump of physical memory

Physical memory dump complete.

Contact your system administrator or... ... and it goes on like that.

HELP! I am right now using my second computer to make this topic.

And I DO NOT have the original disk to reinstall. I'm trying to make backup memories for I do not want to loose them.

Please reply.

Can you boot into Safe Mode?

Have you tried to boot into Last Known Good Configuration?

If both above fail, then you could try a System Restore from the Recovery Console. (Which may be difficult since you don't have the original Windows disk. Unless you have the Recovery Console installed, as detailed in this post.)

yes I tried safe mode, safe mode with ... ..., last good configuration, enable boot logging, and all that.

and now I made matters worse, I installed my old Windows XP Professional ENG into my computer as well, to try to fix the problem.

I changed the problemed file(System32\Config\SOFTWARE), with the one in C:\WINDOWS\repair.

But I can only log in as administrator, and all other languages I had in my computer turned into blocks, for the computer did not recognize it. And all the errors and words in a message box turned all bold and blackish.

I tried system restore, but now it lost all previous records of restore points.

I also tried to change the other hives the way I did with SOFTWARE, but then it became worse, when I tried to open the system, it gave a error message box that said something about it trying to access or change a password, then it automatically restarted. HELP.

And also if you can, my new system(Windows XP Professional), can't produce any sound, it doesn't even have a volume control.

Yes but now it says something about a password in a message box and it automatically restarts when I try to open the system.

also, the files in system32\config is now replaced with the ones in system32\repair, thats what caused the password problem, and I don't even have any passwords in that system!!!

it seems you have to reinstall OS, I am sorry about that.
