Isabella_Rhapsody Posted February 8, 2008 Report Share Posted February 8, 2008 Hi...I'm new hear...I have a problem with my laptop..When I turn on, it seems nothing wrong with it..everything seems normal..However, after the screen of windows xp and home..The screen suddenly open with the background wallpaper but there is no sign of windows, no button of windows, no files....just the picture of wallpaper..Sometimes..after a quite long time waiting...the screen will change to the welcome sign with the user on the right and there is a choice of turn off..When I choose to click the user...the screen will change back to the wallpaper and back to the welcome sign with user on th right...I have already try all the option in the F8...but nothing work..Please help me!!! ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted February 8, 2008 Report Share Posted February 8, 2008 I recently had a similar situation after installing the COMODO 2 firewall; Windows started up until showing the wallpaper, then nothing. I was able to login to Safe Mode (as Administrator user), and remove the software. After this all was well.Did you recently install something that could have caused this? Isabella_Rhapsody Posted February 8, 2008 Author Report Share Posted February 8, 2008 I recently install a bitdefender to protect from virus..I have already tried the safe mode with administrator user but still the same..Sometimes, when the wallpaper shows there are 2 notice that say togglelg.exe and hddmgrs.exe are not working then there are 2 choices whether I want to send the report or don't send.. However, since you are unable to start Windows in any way, I am a bit unsure how to diagnose and remove this potential malware.Do you have your original Windows install CD, so you can start the Recovery Console?
