Command to get Adapter IP?

This has been frustrating me for the past hour.

I was hoping XP offered a command to get my internet IP address.

I type ipconfig /all and I get my network addresses but how do I get my internet address?

I know you can go to one of those sites to get it but

isn't there a command or utility for this?

I also logged onto my router and found that it does not supply this information.

Anybody know?

Cool application but how does it work?

I mean it obviously is getting this information from my system.

So where can I get this information using my system resources?

I know I might be able to create a socket then connect and have a logging program acquire it that way.

That seems to be quite a work around.

I think you understand what I am getting at. I forgot to mention above that I am using NAT.

I know Linux has a command something like getadapterinfo.

Does XP not include anything of the sort?

I also clicked around in my device manager but didn't see my IP.

I don't think XP has any commands to get the external IP. I think you need to get it from an outside source. I play around with scripting a lot and I have not seen or figure that one out. All the scripts I found that give you that IP address reference and outside source like www.whatsmyip.com.

Sho thing.

I'm almost 100% sure I'll find ways to do this.

But I can't be 1% sure of when.

Might have something in a week from now or might stumble on it years from now.

Pretty busy and usually I find my answers to stuff like this while I'm in the process of trying

to put something completely different together. Usually months down the road from when I

was initially searching the issue.

The thing that drives me crazy about learning from google

is that you know everything that you want to know is on the internet SOMEWHERE.

It's about mastering the art while affiliating with lucky when it comes to landing

in between the advertisements and the over specified topics that pull the subject off target.

Wish there was a good portal only for good quality IT information.

Or maybe even a search engine that will only search IT documents?

That would be helpful. But I don't know of anything. That is why I usually have to make my own programs in Visual Studios to do what I want.
