catgate Posted February 17, 2008 Report Share Posted February 17, 2008 On about 10% of the occasions I switch on my W98SE box it fire up the fan (PSU?) and then, before it has had time to decide to bleep, it switches off again. Then, before I can get all the necessary expletives out of my mouth, it fires up again, bleeps, and goes on its merry way without my having to touch it.My first thought was 'switch' but then this seems a bit unlikely, because it must have created a connection, and held that connection, for it to fire up for the second time.My second thought was 'PSU'. But then why should that cut out in the first place?I fed it a new mother board about three months ago months ago and I am thinking that this may have started then.Any ideas anyone?
