SteMulv
hi there,in my house there are 7 computers in my house, 6 personal, and one data centre with all our data stored.our xbox 360 connects to the data centre and plays our Divx and MP3s like a dream, however other computers on the network struggle to connect. we are not looking to stream data from the main storage pc to the personal pcs, but we want to be able to add data from the personal pcs to the data centre. (all are wireless except the xbox)we use a belkin wireless router.the data centre is running on Win XP Pro SP2, one other personal PC is also running on XP pro, and it is able to connect fine (albeit gets very slow data transfer rates) all the other PCs are on XP home and these are unable to connect. Via my network places, the computers on the network do (sometimes) appear (we have all set our workgroups to the same name) but if using a XP Home pc, when you try to access the shared folders it says Access Denied!I have had a good scan round the net, but no real clear solutions.our aim is to be able to send data to our data centre via the wireless network, howvever it would be great if we could get decent transfer rates, and even better if we could stream off the data centre at a good rate too...also i am planning to upgrade to Vista soon, will i have the problem then?would it be easiler to upgrade the data centre to a server package like small business server, home server or Red hat enterprise?ThanksSte
