Mapped Network Drive - Prompt for password

Recommended Posts

Our company has a network with a domain. The department I work in also has a workgroup of computers that are not joined to the company domain but are physically connected to it. I have some shared folders on my machine which several domain members need access to. Normally they just map to the shares, fill in the credentials at the prompt and check to save the password. After that their computers will open up the mapped drive without prompting for credentials. Problem: A coworker got a new computer, attempted to map to the shares on my machine and got an access denied message. He could see the machine by browsing for it but could not drill in and see the shares. Why did the password prompt not pop up and allow him a chance to authenicate?
