Spoof Video Card Memory

Hi,

I'm trying to install Microsoft Plus! on a couple windows XP computers. It wants at least a 16 mb video card, but most of them only have 2 or 8 mb. How does the Plus installer check for this requirement, and how can I trick Plus into doing a complete install? As of now, it gives an error that it is omitting some of the visualizers, like the jellyfish one that I love.

If you have integrated graphics on the computer, there is *should* be a setting in your BIOS to adjust the amount of memory allocated to the video chip. The program may still require an actual video card as opposed to the integrated graphics chip.

If you have or require a video card, you can upgrade it quite cheaply to a better one and it should run fine.

You can't fool the computer into thinking the card has more memory without serious hacks, and even if you could, you shouldn't because it will cause far more problems than it's worth. Minimum requirements exist for a reason B)

Thanks for the info. There are quite a number of these computers, and I don't really need Plus! to work right... I just think some of the effects are funny. The reason I ask is because on my Mac I recall it was a simple matter of editing a text file in the installer package to trick it into thinking I had sufficient video ram to install Aperture.
