The easiest way to control your startup items is by using Startup Inspector; download, install, and run it. When you see Winword anywhere in there, uncheck it. (I think you may need to click 'Apply' when finished.)There may be plenty of other unnecessary startup items; use 'Consult' to get more information on these. Or ask here if you are uncertain about some items. But of course you may also leave everything alone, as long as your computer performs fine.
