Default Dell Dimension 8400 programs

Is there a website that has everything that comes preinstalled with a Dell Dimension 8400 to download again? Yes, I said 8400, even though my signature says I have an 8200.

I want all the Drivers to download again, as well as other stuff that came with it, like something called Intel Application accelerator, and other stuff...

Also, I have RAID 1 I think, is that where it duplicates the hard drive? Thats what I have. How can I remove RAID in a dell dimension 8400, so I can use each hard drive by itself?

With a DELL computer you usually get two CD-ROMs:

• Reinstallation CD for Windows
  
• Reinstallation CD for drivers and utilities
  

The Windows reinstall CD of course is unique, and you cannot download another one. The Resource CD with drivers and utilities however can be downloaded, and usually provides newer versions than the original CD. Use Boris' link or this one to find drivers and other stuff for your Dimension 8400/

Hey guys, Thanks for the reply! I am getting this computer from a friend, because he is getting a new one. Last time we reinstalled XP on it, I don't know what we did, but it was a pain in the to get all the drivers back! For one, the sound driver on that page isn't even for the sound card on that Dell Dimension 8200! (his is SB Live!)Also, the Drivers and Utilities CD that came with his computer only has the MODEM driver, NO ETHERNET DRIVER, or ANY OTHER DRIVERS! There was a Windows Media Center re installation DVD that came with it, but as long as I get all of the drivers when I am done, can I wipe the partition and use my own Win XP Pro DVD? Thanks!

What software don't I need to re-download if I won't be using RAID on his computer? Do I need the Intel Application Accelerator?

How much faster will his be than mine right now? Here are his specs, my specs are in the signature:

For most devices that existed at the time of that particular XP version's release, Windows should already have and recognize the device drivers. For those it doesn't recognize, the Resource CD should contain all drivers for that particular machine. That's why the model number is printed on the CD cover.

To make things easier, there are many driver backup programs that back up all your existing drivers before doing a reinstall.

P.S. DriverMax can help you with exporting and importing drivers, although this is too late for you now. However, you can use it to exactly identify your devices, so you can search for appropriate drivers on the Internet. (Non-standard DELL devices will not have any drivers on the Resource CD.)

Cool, thanks! So, if I were going to reinstall windows, would it have to be from the Media Center Edition disk that came with the computer, or could it be from a retail version of microsoft windows xp pro? (As long as I reinstalled all of the drivers at the end)

Also, from the question above with the specs, what would be the speed difference in the computers?
