OLE Control

I am attempting to repair windows XP. While repairing, the error log is telling me that the OLE Control is looking for specific DLL's inside of the "J:\windows\" directory. This is incorrect, as the primary windows drive letter is currently C:. Is there a way to change this drive path in the repair console, or during repair?

Thanks,

Howett

Is J, a DVD / CD drive.

J is nothing. I have normally, 2 IDE and 2 SCSI. My primary IDE is all that is currently hooked up, and 2 DVD drives. Normally the Primary IDE is C:, and the 2 dvd's are E and F. My slave IDE is D:, my 1st SCSI is T and my last is L. But I have them all unplugged to remove human error from this process (attempt to install or repair the wrong drive and overwrite files).

Edit:

Maybe there is a way to change my primary drive to J for temporary reasons. Rebuild my boot, and boot up to windows and make changes through windows? Or does something like the boot.ini have that drive letter selected somehow?

There may be a registry entry pointing to J: -- are you familiar with registry editing?

Let's first just have a look; don't change anything. Start -> Run -> type regedit [OK]. Now press F3 and enter J:, under 'Look at' check Data, [Find next].

If it found anything, note the key and value it was found under, then press F3 again (to find all entries). When you are done, report back what you've found.
