Vicious2071
My computer was working fine, until I decided to get Verizon Fios. Well, I had it already, but I transfered it to a different house. The Router/Modem (not sure what it's called) thing wasn't in my room though. Instead, I got a wi-fi adapter. It's from Zyxel. When I installed the software, my computer kept on locking up (frozen completely). I re-installed it again, but only the driver software, but it still kept on locking up. I hear it's either lack of memory or a compatability issue. But why would verizon install software that isn't compatible with my computer (windows xp service pack 2)?the 2nd problem i have is that my computer's virus scan isn't working. before anyone tells me to use a different virus scanner, no. i actually want to fix the problem here. i have panda security 2008. it worked fine, but it stopped after i installed windows defender. the program opens up, but when i go for the "scan computer" option, nothing happens. it sounds like it's about to start up, but it doesn't. i removed windows defender, but it's still not working. if i right click the anti-virus icon on the system tray thing, i have the option to click the "close automatic protection" feature. it scans after that, but i don't want to approach it like that. i want it back to it's original ways of doing things.oh yeah, 3rd problem is that the links in my aim aren't opening. again, nothing pops up.4th problem *sigh* is that there are like 53 processes opened up and i don't think i need to open them all...plus, they're all high. before, the maximum process was at about 30k. now it's about 100k. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Welcome to the Windows Forum.About the Verizon software problem; you should really contact their support desk about it.Regarding the many processes - that is not a good sign. My recommendation is to run an online scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/; try v6.6 - it runs somehow better than v6.
Vicious2071
Can it be a RAM issue?I have 512MBs of RAM.http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/3708/performancena7.jpgIt seems that it's near 500mbs already.
