XP Installation

Hi,

I have replaced the hard drive on my XP machine at home i then put the cd in the drive and boot from it it opens symantec ghost and says it connot do multiple loads then just errors.

I really need to get XP loaded on this machine does anyone have any good ideas or other ways of doing this if i can't use this cd??

What CD is that? If it's an XP CD, how can it know about Symantec Ghost? If it's a Ghost image then it is important to follow the procedure given in the manual re installing on a new drive.

Its the cd that came with the pc Advent re-installation cd.

Ah, I see.

The problem most likely in that case is that the disk you have is not a copy of Windows but a disk made by the computer manufacturer to reinstall Windows from a hidden partition on the original hard drive. This disk may well contain other things such as the Symantec Ghost that you say is trying to load.

If you didn't make a Ghost image the only thing to do, as far as I know, is to contact your supplier and get them to sort it out or, buy a copy of Windows (which I'm sure you won't want to do).
