Movie Maker in Vista?

Hi.

I got a fairly new computer that came with windows vista home premium, but got problems with movie maker.

so here's the first problem: I can select clips, but I can't trim the video! (it seems). It is because every time i try selecting a spot on the timeline where I want to "start trimming" nothing appears. there is nothing in the big video box thing to the right. So it is viritually impossible to trim the video! another thing that apparently doesn't work is when I choose play, nothing happens when I already have the clip on the bottom "video bar".

well, that's about it. any help at all is much appreciated.
