enjoiN Posted June 25, 2008 Report Share Posted June 25, 2008 I'm trying to upgrade my Operating System, my current Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bitthe upgrade: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit, but i get the following error while using the disc to upgrade to 64-bit:"Setup can not run on this version of the Operating System. To install Windows please try booting from the install media", which i think it's telling me to run my old OS disc...My System Requirements are all good for the 64-bit upgrade (i have a 64-bit processor)How do I upgrade from my old Operating System to the new one with the upgrade? rong Posted June 25, 2008 Report Share Posted June 25, 2008 I think you need to go into the bios and set the boot order to CD/DVD first (not the hard drive) with your Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit disk in the drive when you boot up. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

enjoiN Posted June 26, 2008 Author Report Share Posted June 26, 2008 Ok, I have another problem now...I still have the Vista Home Premium installed , and I went into BIOs to start-up the CD/DVD ROM Drive, to run the Ultimate CD(64-bit). After doing so, I get to a screen to install it. It asks me to select the Installation type; I can only select Custom(advanced) which installs a clean copy of Windows, sleect where you want to install it , or make changes to disks and partitions. After clicking this, It takes me to another window showing me both my hard-drives (Primary and Logical). It has the option to : Refresh, Delete, Format, New (which is not enabled), Load Driver, and Extend (which is not enabled). I clicked Load Driver, then it says :"To install the device driver needed to access your hard driver, insert the installation media containing the driver files, and then click OK."after clicking Browse...I select the CD Drive which contains all the files from the Ultimate disc, which is where i get an error saying:"No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK."And after I recieve this I have no idea what to do. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted June 26, 2008 Report Share Posted June 26, 2008 I don't think you can "upgrade" a 32-bit OS to 64-bit. I'm quite sure you need a complete format and fresh install.Unless you partition your disk and then install it as a multi-boot in the second partition.
