ihot
Hi,I was trying to COPY files from a windows XP PC to my (windows XP) notebook using a USB (thumb) drive and that XP PC overwrote my FAT index on my USB drive. Now I do not see any of my files on my USB drive - XP corrupted my USB index. Can anyone suggest a utility that can recover my Windows files such as Word docs from my USB drive? I tried using ParetoLogic software but it would not recognise my J: drive even though Windows recognized it.Thanks in advance.ps. I do back up my USB drive but it is over a month old. My USB drive is a few months new and has a lot of my personal documents that I do not want to lose. I have a 5 years oldcopy of Norton Utilities but am not sure if it will work- I guess I may end up installing it to find out.)

You can use Stellar Phoenix Windows data recovery software. It will help you to recover all your file from Usb drive. Download the demo version to see the preview of your recoverable file fromhttp://www.stellarinfo.com/file-recovery.htmAfter seeing the preview go for full version to complete your recovery. Slyke
You could always download a version of Knoppix and try that. I know I'm going to get thrashed for saying that since this is a Microsoft forum XD.

Recovering deleted files, on the other hand, is a bit different.
