Corrupt Disk (chkdsk) and Freeze After Fresh Installation

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have formatted my computer and re-installed Windows XP (legit) atleast 5 times already. I install all the latest updates, drivers and used AVG 8.0 Free Anti Virus software. I always experience a corrupt disk failure and when I reboot the computer the chdsk screen comes up. Most recently there was a "disk error - winlogon.exe" message. I searched other forums and it was suggested to run chkdsk /r /f in command prompt.

The computer also freezes a lot.

I am using an HP Computer. I formatted the computer after a year using my own copy of Windows rather than the recovery CD's and downloaded all the essential drivers from the HP site.

Any suggestions? Help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

- Sunny
