Don't know if I'm posting in the right place, but I'm going to try. I currently have a Home Premium computer 32-bit and a Home Premium 64-bit. I'm wondering about the procedures needed to upgrade the 32-bit system to a 64 bit. The chips and motherboards are the same, the ram is the same quantity (diffrent brands), but the 64 bit runs cooler and with less freeze-ups. Is there a way to upgrade my 32-bit operating system to a 64-bit? I tried using the upgrade advisor, but exited when it asked for my serial due to I don't give it out to anyone... even Microsoft over the internet. By phone, I'll do it. But that option never came up. In reading up to that point, I noticed that I'd be charged for the new disk. Does anyone know how much would it be and if I could just buy anothe license for the disk I already have? Any help would be appreciated.

You would have to buy another license and it would cost you the same as buying a disk - so you may as well do that. The way MS see things is that you buy a license to use the product - the associated disks come free.

Got an answer from another website that told me that if I install Home premium 64 and use my serial for Home Premium 32, that it'll work. That Microsoft just sends out a 64-bit disk to replace the 32-Bit for less then 30 dollars. lol Now I'm getting confused.

64 bit is nothing but the way information send to the processor.

all current processors, and mobo's support this.

on a 32bit OS, you can use maximum +/- 3GB ram, more wont be supported, and the information to the processor is send in 32 Bits packages.

on a 64Bit OS, you can use way more memory (i don't know how much, but it's MUCH more O.O), and the information is send to the processor in packages of 64 Bits.

more info on google and wiki
