Saving file to FTP server from local machine

Hi,

while we are trying to save a file to FTP server from local machine, we are getting the following error:

"You cannot save in the folder you specified. Please choose another location"

and

"The filename '...' is invalid or unsupported by the chosen directory "

any ideas to get rid of this errors?

Maybe the login userid does not have write (upload) access to that particular server or folder?

Does it only happen for certain file types (what file types)?

What is the target system (server)?

What is the FTP client?

But I'm able to copy the files to that location manually (Copy file from local machine and paste it in FTP).

Any more ideas?

Not sure what you mean "paste it in FTP" - is that the target folder name?

You really do not give us much information to go on; it would be much easier if we actually knew some details.

Who owns the ftp? You may have to ask the Administrator to provide you access.

FTP can require authentication beyond NTFS permissions (assuming you're using Windows based servers). Are you using a web browser to try to move the files with FTP, or a third party application such as Bullet Proof FTP?

Hi,

FTP user has limited access to restricted area. So You can see multiple folders under the folder where Directory listing is allowed for your login but You can write/paste the data only in allowed folders. So as your question was not much descriptive, its hard to answer, where exactly you are asking about.. If you can elaborate your question, then it will be easy for us to comment on it.
