Separating User Accounts

Ok, so I'm running Vista Home premium on an Acer laptop.

I have two accounts on the computer (one's mine and one's my wife’s)

As with most users, we like to personalize our accounts’ in different ways.

For example, I like to delete any links in my programs menu that belong to software that I don't commonly use and she runs various pieces of software on her side that I care nothing about.

The problem is that anything that I do on my account carries over to her account and anything that she does on her account carries over to mine.

If I delete a program's link from my programs list, then it deletes it from hers as well! Or if she allows a program to run at start up the damn thing runs on my side too!!!!

How to I prevent this from happening?

Is there a setting somewhere that I'm aware of that will separate the activities on our accounts?

Sorry, I don't know Vista - it may be different there.

But earlier versions of Windows had a Start Menu tree like

• C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs
  
• C:\Documents and Settings\{user-1}\Start Menu\Programs
  
• C:\Documents and Settings\{user-2}\Start Menu\Programs
  ...
  

So if you add/remove Start Menu items from 'All Users', it will of course affect all users. But if you add/remove items from the individual users' Start Menu, then it will only affect the user in question.

So, as I said, it may be slightly different on Vista, but the same principle will still apply.
