ebo_obe Posted August 21, 2008 Report Share Posted August 21, 2008 Her everyone!!I have had loads of problems trying to get my new laptop with vista to connect to my wireless internet at first it kept saying 'limited or no conectivity' but after fixing that ... i hope, the 'default gateway appears to be offline???does anyone know how to fix this?? Boris Posted August 21, 2008 Report Share Posted August 21, 2008 Do other devices conect wirelessly to your access point ?I don't have Vista and am not a wireless expert, but these general principles still apply.Make sure that the laptop's wireless connection is configured to obtain an IP address and DNS automatically.Ensure that the laptop's wireless connection is configured to be consistent with your wireless access point's configuration If you use MAC validation, make sure the MAC of the wireless port is listed in your MAC validation file. Once you have validated the configuration is proper, and all security steps have been properly addressed, you should then be able to ping the public DNS server's numeric IP address and something such as www.yahoo.com successfully and see the details of the ip address using the "ipconfig /all" command in command prompt.Try all of the above; then go to command prompt and run the ping tests and ipconfig /all test and if you still have a problem - post again telling exactly what you did and what the responses were.
