Internal Card Reader

I have an internal Card reader, with 6 card slots and a usb 2.0 drive.

For some reason, it won't read cards.

The USB Port works, suggesting it isnt a hardware fault (split wires etc) or a driver error, and the card isn't corrupt.

Any suggestions?

Edit: The Drive has changed, and it's mapped to G instead of I now, so I can access the card, but theres no autorun menu :(

I built my desktop PC 9 months ago and included an internal card reader. It worked OK at first but decided to get grumpy after about 3 months and ignored all my attempts to wake it up. I eventually removed it and now use a USB card reader OK.

I built a computer for a friend a few months ago who also wanted an internal card reader. I imagined my previous experience was a one-off and included one. Within a month she had the same problem - it stopped working - and it would not respond to any of many fixes I tried. She also now successfully uses an external USB card reader.

I am sure that this is not what you want to hear - and I hope you get it fixed. But I won't be surprised to hear you have bouht an external card reader and saved yourself a lot of hassle.

I also have a laptop which has a built-in card reader - this seems to work fine. Perhaps the model of card readers I bought for the PCs were a duff design.
