Hi,

i have a Dell Latitude D630 running Windows XP Professional.

I recently got a virus and in the process of removing it i needed to boot in safe mode. i tried the usual method of pressing F8 at the startup screen and selecting safe mode. it worked but when it got to the welcome screen it reset and then started up normally. i tried it again but got the same results. i decided to use the other method by runnig WINCONFIG and changing the settings in the BOOT tab to safe mode. now whenever i start my computer it goes straight to safe mode but it still resets and i can't go back to the normal settings. ive tried all of the setting in the boot menu but still no luck. im sure the reason it resets is because of the virus, but ive never had to use safe mode before.

does anyone have any ideas of what to do?
