matz
Okay folks, here's the deal...Yesterday, as in Sept. 27 2008 I did a fresh install of a brand new Windows XP pro SP2 on a brand new WD VelociRaptor.Everything went fine untill I tried to install the updates. They downloaded no problem, all 99 of them but for some reason will not install! I decided to download SP3 which downloaded and installed perfectly. My question is, is there a correlation between SP3 and not being able to install critical updates the old fashioned way?p.s. I assume my computer is up to date since SP3 contains all the critical updates. If this is not the case please advise.TIA to all replies,Cheers
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
There have already been a few new security updates after SP3, so you are not fully up-to-date.Please give us the error code(s) for the update(s) that didn't install. (Click on 'show update history' at http://www.update.microsoft.com/)
matz
There are no error code(s) nor failed updates in updates history.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
The failed updates from before SP3 will have disappeared by the installation of SP3. Try to install the updates that were released after SP3 and see if they fail, then go back to your updates history. Click on the icon to get the error code(s). matz
There were no critical updates that I could see after I installed SP3 except for .NET Framwork and WMP which were downloaded and installed without a problem. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
There have been quite a few critical updates since the SP3 release in May. matz
Yes but I installed mine on Sept. 27 2008
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Yes, but SP3 was finalized in May 2008, and there had been no additions to it since then. Any updates released after that date will have to be installed separately after the SP3 install.
