TP-LINK WN550G Driver Installation Lockup

Hey Everyone,

I just recently bought a TP-LINK WN550G 54M Wireless PCI card and I followed the instructions as per user manual. I will roughly describe what happens below....

Install the hardware... No problems.

Plug in power and start up PC..... No Problems.

Windows loads (XP)..... No Problems.

Log In..... No problems.

All programs load..... No Problem.

Installing the driver...... Freeze.

I run the Setup.exe and I get the wizard. I select next go throught and Install the Client Utility and the Driver. Now when Windows pops up the Digital Driver Signing screen I click continue anyway and straight after that the Computer Freezes hard. Sound stops and cant move the mouse.

Heres the things I have tried:

I went back to the store and they said some Motherboards don't support wireless cards. Igot the motherbaord checked and it does. Its a ASUS P5VD2-X. So I unplugged the card and got it tested used a different slot and Updated my BIOS. Then directly after Updating my BIOS it WORKED!! So I went to find the network. BAM FREEZE!! After that couldn't load windows. It stopped at the Splash screen. I restored windows to the last working settings which was straight after the BIOS update.

Can anyone help!!??

Are you sure the manual listed the actions in this order? Most external devices need the driver installed first, before it is actually connected to the computer.

If I read it correctly it said. Plug in the adapter then when the windows pops up the hardware screen cancel it and install the driver from there. So I tried that but to no avail. I might try removing the card and then installing it and I will see how that goes.... Its worth a shot anyway.
