He bought a PC that came with Vista and just recently bought the XP pro cd. He is booting off the cd and as it loads up to the blue setup screen, it gives him an error saying something along the lines of "an error occured and windows needs to shutdown" or something like that. I'm pretty sure it CAN be done if you perform a fresh install by deleting what is on the partition and installing from there. And the steps posted to do that are: Insert XP cd, reboot the pc, boot from the disk, run set-up (which is how I did it on my pc).. If possibale please let me know the Model no. of the Motherboard you are using. because before some days ago my friend had faced same issue but he was using Intel 945 original motherboard. He was trying to install Windows 2000 on that an Getting same error of Blue screen because Intel 945 original is not supported windows 2000 he is supported Windows XP or Higher operating system (but Intel 945 chipset is supported 2000). so if possibale please let me know the model no. of the motherboard you are using...
