Visionary
Hey guys,I have two drives installed so far, the first one being a MAXTOR 500GB drive I use as my boot drive and for software, the second being a Seagate 80GB drive I use for Games, and now my new WD Caviar drive - I hook up the power and SATA, then I right click My Computer and click on "Manage", from there I click on Disk Management and I see the drive but it says something about the drive that I can't recall (I'm on my school computer). Does it have to do with power or something? The first two drives are plugged in to the PSU with a cable that splits in to the two and then I have another cable for the third drive that plugs in to the PSU and I remember when one of my huge case fans (I have the Cooler Master Haf 932) was plugged in to there it wasn't spinning at full speed so maybe that plug from the PSU is malfunctioning or so?I appreciate any help and thanks in advance,-Kevin
-pops-
In my computer builds I always try to ensure that drives have their own power line from the PSU (no doubling up or suchlike). I don't really know how important this is but, I can imagine that if there are multiple calls on a single cable with two or more drives and fans and whatever else, that this may just possibly cause malfunctions. Are you able to test with less call on the cable? Sunray
s, and now my new WD Caviar drive - I hook up the power and SATA, then I right click My Computer and click on "Manage", from there I click on Disk Management and I see the drive but it says something about the drive that I can't recall (I'm on my school computer).-KevinSorry for the stupid question, but you plugged it in when the PC was switched OFF right? Hot plugging a drive within windows is not generally a good idea.Anyway, you'll need to initialize and format/partition the new disk in Disk Management before you can use it. Probably that's the message that popped up? Simply right click on the drive, and choose the options; takes just a few seconds.More information http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457110.aspx
