Quick ? about upgrading WinXP Home to WinXP Professional

Will I lose any functionality unique to Windows XP Home Edition if I upgrade it to Windows XP Professional Edition? I ask because I'm taking classes about WinXP Pro and I'd like to be able to practice stuff at home, but I don't want to upgrade my home comp for study and then have some XP Home function that I use a lot not work properly anymore.

If you upgrade to pro you will be fine as it has all the functions of home plus a few more! Only things you may notice is the addition of joining pc to a domain and full remote desktop (Two way)!

I don't know if you can "upgrade" XP Home to Pro; I think you will have to do a complete reinstallation. This means you will lose all installed programs and data on your C: drive. Or maybe a "repair" install of XP Pro over Home will work...?

I agree, other than having to backup and re-install, you shouldn't lose any fuctionality, and it adds a good bit of networking functionality

Before you do, make a backup

If for some reason the upgrade fails you will not be able to revert back to your home addition, you will have to reinstall
